| Description | The ministry consists of two main departments which were housed in one building; the core department and the central financial institutions (CFI). In 2002 the core department was moved to The Hague. To make this possible the IT infrastructures of both departments was separated into two self sustaining entities. CFI was migrated to a Windows XP based infrastructure, while the core department continued operating on a Novell based infrastructure. While I was hired by the ministry I was responsible for the following projects: - Creating the CFI Network;
- Creating a new Cisco based infrastructure;
- Designing and implementing the Firewall infrastructure (Sun Solaris/Checkpoint FW-1);
- Migration of the database services to the new network (HP-UX/Oracle);
- Migration of several other small network based (legacy) components.
- Internet Couplings CFI (one man project); responsible for:
- Virtual Private Networks implementation to facilitate employees working from their own home.
- Realization of a webmail solution;
- Preparing the infrastructure for new webservices;
- Novell network migration (core departement); responsible for:
- Upgrading the Novell servers and services;
- Upgrading Groupwise (the mail solution).
Next to these project responsibilities I had several other tasks: - Unix specialist supporting the system management organization (CFI and core department);
- Security specialist supporting the CFI management organization;
- Advising, creating and implementing the CFI security policy;
- Coaching the CFI security officer;
- Advising on the development on new web based services;
- Member of the ministry wide change commission.
