ING is working on a corporate portal site based on IBM Websphere. The portal will be running on the Linux platform. The corporate portal is a fast growing project. Predicted userbase is in the thousands.

Because it is the corporate portal, copies of it will be running around the world. These copies need to exchange information, so that a user visiting an office abroad will not notice he is logging in on another server.

On the short term the Lead Architect is responsible for the design of the technical infrastructure. Most important requirements are availability and scalability.

Software development is done off-shore (India). The Lead Architect advising on how to integrate the portal with the various back-end systems existing within ING.
