Customer ING Insurance Central Europe
Description

The Vision 4 Growth program is aimed at creating uniformity in the business processes and IT architecture throughout the Central European region (9 countries). From the IT point of view, growth in business should be possible without a similar increase in IT cost.

IT Goals:

  • Large reduction of the number of applications
  • Creation of a central hosting infrastructure for common applications
  • Consolidation of IT management organisations
  • Central European Desktop standard

As infrastructure architect I'm a member of a team of regional architects with various specialisations. My tasks:

  • Creating a design for the new centralized infrastructure
  • Creating a target state architecture for all IT (desktop/network/unified communications)
  • Creating a new set of standards for IT infrastructure
  • Writing of a RFI/RFP for the hosting of the new infrastructure and reviewing the replies
  • Advice on the goverance of the new IT management organisation
  • QA for products delivered by the other architects
  • Guidance on the implementation of the new regional DC
  • Helping project architects to implement regional architecture into their projects
Virtualisation, Linux and Thin Client/Remote Desktops, SAN Storage and 10Gb Ethernet play an important role in the new infrastructure in order to increase flexibility and reduce the TCO.
